Benefit from American education… think about it. That is a strong statement, sadly that is not the case with the educational system on this island. Lack of funds, lack of qualify teachers, lack of basic necessities, I remember few weeks back some school doing a toilet paper donation drive so they have enough for the coming school year. If CEDA (Chinese Economic Development Association) thinks sending their Chinese students here would allow them to get a US education to be ready for the world market, I am thinking they really need to see what a typical graduate of the CNMI education system is like. What jobs do they have, how much of the graduating class pursues higher education and even how much do even gets accepted. If they think that into account I think they would be thinking other opportunity. Actually I am even surprise that the CEDA is still looking at this island as an opportunity, after all CNMI has a negative image against the Chinese. But then again like all government agency, could it be that the CEDA is looking for a new cash cow to milk. There is no more selling, and I yes I do mean selling of cheap Chinese garment workers to this island. And now its getting harder and harder to import Chinese workers to the island for other reasons /cough /cough prostitution and cheap farm labor. Odd combination if you think about it, but then again maybe they can do a package deal for a family, Mom and daughter working in the streets while father and son toil in the sun. ahhh the American dream ….
